I’ve had the good fortune to be in Sudbury not once but twice recently. One was to speak at the AGM of theSudbury Federal Liberal Association, and to support a great candidate there, Carol Hartman.
Not long thereafter, I was asked to do a televised book review, on CBC’s “Power and Politics” with Evan Solomon, on the new biography of former Prime Minister R.B. Bennett by John Boyko, “Bennett, The Rebel who Challenged and Changed a Nation”. James Rajotte, my Conservative MP co-reviewer, was in Edmonton, Evan was in Ottawa, but I was on Georgian Bay, so the closest CBC studio was in Sudbury--but it worked. And I highly recommend the book to anyone—not just because I learned so much about a previously under-recognized prime minister, but also because of how much I learned about Canadian politics of the era.
